It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of JoAnn Duran, who went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
JoAnn was born on September 29, 1959, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Eslinda Benavidez and Antonio Duran. She preceded in death by her beloved son Kevin Duran, her mother Eslinda Benavidez, father Antonio Duran, Step-father Joe B Benavidez, brothers David Duran, Lawrence Duran, Rudy Duran and her great-granddaughter Destiny Encinias.
She survived by her daughters Lisa Duran and Francine McCann (Reyna); her grandchildren Sara Bustamante (Sabby), Olivia Rosales (Fatima), Ralph Cordova (Adrianna), Kevin Duran (Alyssa), Natasha Duran (Willie), Mikayla Martinez and Reyes Martinez; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sisters Sally Maes, Nancy Ortiz, Marcella Palomino, Theresa Madrid and Patricia Leonard (Fabian).
JoAnn was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Known for her kind heart, fearless spirit, and unwavering strength, she was a pillar of love and support for her family. Her deep faith in the Lord and her devotion as a Catholic guided her life. She loved Harley Davidson and was fan of the Denver Broncos. Above all, JoAnn's loyalty to her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren was unmatched. Her love, strength, and warmth will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. JoAnn will be laid to rest at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM. Serving as urn bearers will be her grandsons, Ralph Cordova and Kevin Duran.
As JoAnn always reminded her family when parting "Don't forget to pray."
