Joe Daniel Garcia went to be with our Lord on June 4, 2026, leaving behind a family who loves him deeply. Joe was a devoted son and a quiet, private man whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and joy to those who knew him best.
Joe was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rebecca and Daniel F. Maes; Annie Martinez; Pat and Josie Romero; his beloved brother, Marcus M. Montano; his paternal grandfather, Joe “Tycoon” Garcia; and his great-grandmother, Clorinda Garcia. He was also preceded in death by his uncles Ralph (Frances) and Bernie Garcia, his cousin Bernadette Garcia.
Joe was a son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
He loved sports, especially basketball, both playing and watching the game. He was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and a lifelong supporter of the Raiders. Joe also enjoyed video games, listening to music, and spending time with family. At family gatherings, you could always find him laughing, joking, and creating memories with his loved ones.
Joe was employed by Graybar Electric Supply in Albuquerque. His coworkers and friends at Graybar remember him as an excellent employee who was dependable, trustworthy, and respected by those who worked alongside him.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Esmeralda; his sister, Jasmine; and her children, Josiah and Rebecca “Phia,” whom Joe adored. He is also survived by his parents, Kathy Maes and Jerome “Cuate” Garcia. Joe and his father shared a love of sports and were looking forward to attending a WWE event together this month.
He also leaves behind his stepfather, Jesus Ortiz; stepsister, Nisa Ortiz and her husband, Edward; and their children, Santiago and Liam. Joe is further survived by his paternal grandmother, Pita Garcia; his aunt, Jolene Garcia; his uncle, Jason Garcia; and his maternal uncle, Patrick Maes.
He leaves behind many cousins, including Santana & Azjaneah & Patricia Garcia, Patricia Cowboy, Mariah Torres, Patrick Maes Jr., Fabian Maes, Cezar & Anjelika Maestas, along with numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Pallbearers will be Santana Garcia, Matthew Lewis, Matthew Candelaria, Noah Mondragón, Jeremiah Archuleta, and Jesús Ortiz. Honorary pall bearer is Josiah Barajas.
A Rosary will be recited by Lorraine Carla O’Neil at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 8:30am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, New Mexico, followed immediately by the Funeral Mass.
Cremation will take place following services, with a private burial at a later date. Joe will be laid to eternal rest beside his namesake, Joe “Tycoon” Garcia.
