John "Andy" Padilla, 67, was born to Agustin Padilla and Rosie Montez-Padilla on January 3, 1955 in Cleveland, New Mexico. The beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on Monday December 19, 2022 at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, New Mexico after a 6 year battle with cancer. Andy was survived by spouse of 45 years Matilda Padilla. He was also survived by 3 sons and one daughter, Andrew Padilla, Miguel Padilla (Breanna), Francisco Padilla (Kimberly), and Kimberly "Vero" Padilla (Jeremy) and 5 grandchildren, Krystopher Padilla, Abigail Padilla, Aubrey Padilla, Miguel Padilla, and Kaylee Padilla. Andy was survived by brothers and sisters Elizabeth Montoya, Mary Jean Sanchez, Joanne Padilla-Salas (Dennis), Agustin Padilla J.R (Laura), Lillian Robles (Pete), and George Padilla (Rene). Andy was preceded in death by Paternal  Grandparents Melaquias Padilla and Crestina Padilla, maternal grandparents Jose Nerio and Lilia Lovato, preceded in death by parents Agustin Padilla and Rosie Montez-Padilla and preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Mary Padilla, Pauline Rodriguez, and Bobby Padilla (Tonie) and sister in law Mary Chavez. Survived by brothers in law and sisters in law, Maria Sandoval (George), Aldofo "Cork" Olivas, Baltazar Olivas (Della), Charlie Martinez(Molly), and Berna Trujillo. As well as being survived by and preceded in death by many other cousins nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family.

Andy was an active man who enjoyed playing and attending basketball games, hunting, fishing, gardening, playing golf and spending time with his family. He attended mora High School where he had a notable career as a Mora Ranger, he also worked at the mines in Grants before moving on to work as a groundskeeper at Pendaries golf course for 33 years until his cancer diagnosis. He will be missed by many.

Services are scheduled as follows: Rosary on Wednesday December 28, 2022 @ 7 p.m. @ St. Gertrude's in Mora, New Mexico. Funeral mass @ 10:00 a.m.  On Thursday December 29, 2022 @ St Gertrude's, burial to follow at Church of Christ cemetery in Holman, NM.
