Tallent, Jr.
April 25, 1947 – May 14, 2025
John L. Tallent, Jr. was born on April 25, 1947 in Dallas, Texas and died on May 14, 2025 at home in Pendaries Village at the age of 78.
His parents were Ruth Burnett Tallent and John L. Tallent, Sr.
John attended High School at Jesuit in Dallas and graduated from Bishop Dunn High School in Dallas. He earned his BA in Marketing from Texas Tech University, his MBA in Finance from Tulane University in New Orleans and graduated from the Executive Program at Rice University in Houston, TX.
He is survived by Yvonne Tallent, his sister Marjorie Nichta and husband Tom Nichta, son Shawn Tallent, daughter Megan Hilburn and husband Chris Hilburn, daughter Erin Tallent Walker and husband Brandon Walker, son Charles Tallent and wife Katy Tallent as well as his grandchildren, Collin Sims, Ethan Walker, Evie Hilburn, Hutson Hilburn, Niece Kristen Wilson and husband Brandon Wilson and their children Emily and Ben Wilson.
John will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed golfing, hiking, swimming, and biking participating in XTERRA competitions in Texas and all over the southwest. He volunteered as Cub Scout Pack Leader, Soccer
Coach, and Baseball Coach for his children and also served as a church volunteer on several committees. John was always the right hand man on all Yvonne's volunteer church projects as well as a volunteer financial counselor for those in need of advice. He was a lifelong member of his service club at Texas Tech named Chi Rho and counted his Chi Rho fraternity brothers lifelong friends.
He was a member of the Sapello /Rociada/San Ignacio Fire Department for several years responding to fires and emergency medical calls for the local fire department. John was always willing to volunteer to help with projects in Pendaries or anyone who needed his help. He will be remembered as someone who liked to laugh and was always ready to show others a good time.
