Joe passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family after a lenghly battle with cancer on June 23, 2026.

He was born Las Vegas, NM on July 13, 1951, where he was a lifelong resident. Joe enjoyed fishing, doing mechanic work, and spending time with his family especially with his grandson Roman Jr. He made his living selling wood, moss rock, and doing mechanic work which he passed his knowledge on to his son Roman. He was a very loving and caring man.

Joe is preceded in death by his three daughters infant Erlinda, Maryann, and Ernestine Martinez. His parents Roman and Erlinda Martinez. His sister Reina Martinez, and grandson Louie Lucero.

Joe is survived by his long-time girlfriend Joann Mora of the family home. By his sons Roman (Cheryl), JoeJerry, and Armando Martinez. His Brothers Roman Martinez, Marvin Martinez, and Anastacio Martinez. His sisters Sandra Martinez, Juanita (Cesar) Tarango, Cleo Martinez, and Frances (Manuel) Pacheco. His grandchildren Toby Apodaca, Destiny Martinez, Esperanza (Martin), Estrella {Gabrielle}, Roman Jr. Martinez, Secundino (Hailee). Mercedes Lucero, Brianna, Kyra, Brandy, and Josephine Romero. Jose Eversol, Pablo Coca, Ignacio Martinez, Felicia, Jose, and Jessica Martinez. Josette and Amanda Martinez. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Kayden Candelaria, Amor, Ernestine, Kinzlee, MaddyJo, Aspen, and Piaslee Martinez. Along with his Godchildren Merenciana Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Carlie Ibarra, and Angelica Pacheco along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 9:00am funeral mass will follow both services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Urn bearer will be Roman Martinez Jr. and Honorary urn bearer will be Secundino Martinez. Burial of Cremains will be at San Jose Cemetery.
