Jose Louis Montoya age 37, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his home.
He was born on July 28, 1973 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to the late Joe C. Montoya and Maria Elena E. Duran-Montoya.
He enjoyed buying older cars and fixing them, enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved his goddaughters dearly. He was a former member of the Latin Dezire Car Club, former owner of Leona's Cafe, and former foster-parent.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joe C. And Maria Ellena E. Montoya; maternal grandparents: Ramoncita G. and Jose A. Duran; paternal grandparents: Rumaldo and Lucia Montoya; uncles: Jose Felix Duran, Eddie Duran, Tony Montoya, and Elvires Martinez; aunts: Julia Duran, Annie Coffman, and Lucy Walker; cousin: Larry R. Duran.
He is survived by his special cousin whom he considered a brother: Andrew Duran and wife Alicia of Las Vegas, NM; god-daughters: Gabriella Duran, Kendra Maestas, Arianna Baca, and Raven Sena; aunts: Dolores D. Martinez, Marcella Salazar and Lilly Montoya all of Las Vegas, NM; god-father and uncle: Fermin Duran and wife Isabel of California; uncles: Jose Leroy Duran, and Jose Gilbert Duran and wife Cathy all of Las Vegas, NM; cousins: Teresa Martinez of Las Vegas, NM; Celine Sanchez and husband John of Washington; Alex Duran and wife Frances , Chris Duran and wife Sarah, Judith Ortega and husband Robert, and JoAnn Gastelum and husband Gregorio all of Las Vegas, NM;, Gilbert Duran and wife Carol , and Dennis L. Rosary devotional services will be held on Sunday October 31, 2010 at 7:00pm at our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral services will be held on Monday November 1, 2010 at 9:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant. Interment will follow at the San Jose Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM with the following serving as casket bearers: Fabian Duran, Jesse Duran, Enrico Archuleta, Robert Alirez, Fidel Alirez and Gilbert Duran.
