Joseph M. Gonzales, 57, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 3, 1968, in Las Vegas, NM, to Bernadette Sandoval and Fabian Gonzales.

Joseph was a man who found joy in the company of his family, especially at the family ranches, where his humor and infectious laughter brought light to every gathering. His presence was cherished and made every moment memorable. He enjoyed camping, riding his Harley, and working with his hands. As a talented carpenter, Joseph was always ready to teach and offer help to anyone in need, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and skill. His generosity extended beyond material help-he gave his time, his wisdom, and his unwavering support to all. Throughout his life, Joseph exemplified the value of love, integrity, and kindness. He was a man of quiet strength and compassion, always thinking of others before himself. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernadette Sandoval; his father, Fabian Gonzales; his grandfather, Macario Gonzales; his grandmother, Frances Medina; his nephew, Brandon Sena; his uncle, Sammy Medina; his aunts, Nena Medina, Emma Gonzales and Lydia Quintana; and his mother-in-law, Bernice Lucero.

Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Brenda Gonzales; his children, Jaizley Gonzales (Xander Romero), Anthony Lucero (Noel), Brittany Saabedra (Austin Collins), Jazmine Gonzales, Sabrina Gonzales, and Tanisha Nunez; his sister, Ruth Sena (Scott); his brothers, Paul Gonzales and Lorenzo Gonzales; and his in-laws, Max Lucero, Theresa Lucero (Katherine Irvin), Sandra Baca (Alfred), and Andrew Lucero (Nina). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Abigail and Sophia Lucero, Santiago Pacheco, Marcelina, Isaac, Alexiah, and Aaliyah Collins, Mayvis, Melody, and Luciano Nunez, and Ameera Sky. Joseph is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Danielle and Tyler Sena, Loriah, Lynessa, Opie, and Nova Gonzales, Aaron Gonzales, Andrew Pedraza, Orion Montoya, Luna Vigil, Katrina Gonzales (Vicente Cordova), Brooklyn and Nevaeh Cordova, Jasmine Sanchez (Travis Romero), Jennifer Sanchez (John Balizan), Amri Lucero, Chantelle Lucero (Derrick Martinez), AJ Lucero, Dardo Baca (Samantha), Renee Romero (Ignacio), Allanna, Damon, and Brannon Butler. Additionally, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Joseph's presence was a blessing to all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

Rosary and Funeral mass will be on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 9am, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, in Las Vegas, NM. Burial of cremains to follow at San Ysidro and Teresita Cemetery in Gonzales Ranch with the following serving as Pallbearers Jaizley Gonzales, Anthony Lucero, Brittany Saabedra, Danielle Sena, Tyler Sena, Aaron Gonzales, Tanisha Nunez, Jazmine Gonzales and Sabrina Gonzales. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers Max Lucero, Andrew Lucero, Austin Collins, Vicente Cordova, Alfred Baca, Xander Romero, and Tim Gonzales.  The family cordially invites you to join them for a reception to celebrate and share memories of Joseph Gonzales (JoJo) after the burial. The event will be held at the Ribera Community Cultural Center.
