Josephine “Jojo” Martinez Tafoya was born on September 17, 1976, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She was called home to be with our Lord on September 20, 2026. She was raised in Holman, New Mexico.

Josephine deeply loved her family, especially her sons, nieces and nephews, and great-niece and great-nephews. She had many passions which included cooking, caring for her family members, being outdoors, traveling, and experiencing new things. Josephine was a caring person who would think of others before herself.

Josephine is preceded in death by both her parents; Patricia and Gasper Tafoya. Maternal grandparents Thomas and Eloisa Romero; paternal grandparents Patrick and Mary Martinez.

Josephine is survived by her two sons, Ray and Isaac; her special friend, Eric; and her siblings, Gary (Karrie), Brenda (Carlos), Patricia (Joe), and Jeanette (Peon). She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Anthony, Terrilee (Reyes), Martinique (Freddie), Marisol (Chase), Joe, Autumn, and Nicole (Thomas); as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Josephine will be deeply loved and missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and loved ones.

Cremation has taken place and rosary will be recited on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 7:00pm funeral mass will be on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 10:00am both services will be held at St. Gertude Catholic Church in Mora, NM with Father Dale Craig S.O.L.T. as celebrant, burial of cremains will follow at Chacon Cemetery in Chacon, NM.
