John, Juan Montaño passed away at UNM hospital on October 1,2026. He was born August 30,1947 in Española, NM to Adelino and Louisa Montaño.

He was preceded in death by his brother Robert, his son John John and nephews Dwayne and Geno and granddaughter Christina.

He is survived by his son Paul (Roberta)Montaño, daughter Andrea, their mother Martha Olivas, daughter Georgi, her mother Christine Lucero and daughter in law Dorothy Montaño. He is also survived by his brothers JJ(Bernice), Carlos (Gloria), Roger, Sisters Lupe(Art)Vargas ,Gloria(Ernest)Lujan, Rosemary (Richard)Santostafano,Elaine(Sam)Sinton, Grandchildren;Mario,Stephen, Danielle,Javier,David,Savannah, Jose, Frances, Johnni, Amarizz, Great grandchildren; Noah, Ezra, Isabella ,Kaleb, Zayda, Gianna, Amelia, Monti and Sophia. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and primos.

Juan enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, not to forget wood harvesting. He worked in the drafting department at the county assessor’s office for many years. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Cremation is taking place and memorial service will be held at Rogers Mortuary on October 21,2026 at 10:30 am, burial will take place at Los Vigiles Cemetery.
