Juan Antonio "Tony" Fresquez, age 84 was called home by our Lord on December 14, 2025 in Las Vegas, NM. Juan was born on July 13, 1941, in Las Vegas, NM. Also known as "Grandpo Tony" to his many grandchildren.
Juan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maryann Maloof – Fresquez, who passed away in 2014. His parents Modesto Fresquez and Eloisa Sanchez- Fresquez, his sister Pheobe Fresquez- Martinez, his brothers Felix and Louisano Fresquez , his son Gene Anthony and daughter Dorothy Fresquez, his grandson Gilbert Jessie Garcia, special great grandson Gene Elijah Anthony Fresquez and numerous other family members.
Juan is survived by his daughters Bernadette Fresquez (Louie Chavez), Marlene Garcia (Gilbert "Cartoon"), grandchildren, Jazmine Ramsey (Joseph), Juan Paublo (Eve), Anthony (Janelle), Gilbert (Brandie), Xavier (Jasmine) Garcia, James Encinias (Andrea), CJ Fresquez (Lenah). Great grandchildren, Anthony Fresquez Jr., James Encinias Jr.(Bell), Elias, Gilbert Jr., Adonis, Xavier Jr., Roman Garcia, Jeremiah and Jacob Ramsey, Mariah, Ali, Serenity Fresquez, Violet Garcia and Jade Ramsey.
Juan was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, of which he served in the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Korea and Germany. He served from 1960-1965, he was a Combat Medic and Infantry Ranger. He was very proud of his military service, he was by all means a "True American Military Man". He could sit and tell his military stories, he would tell them with pride and honor. Sometimes his stories would go on for hours and his close and true friends would just listen without interrupting because they knew if they interrupted he would just start again. He had many friends throughout his life, he will be truly missed by all. After his military life he devoted his time to his family and his Security Position at Luna Community College for many years followed by his employment at Pinos Truck Stop, where he made many friends. His pride and joy was his grandson Anthony Fresquez whom he raised as his own son.
Cremation has taken place, rosary will be recited on December 30, 2025 at 9:00am funeral mass will follow both services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM at 2:00pm December 30, 2025.
