Juanita Olguin, 90, a lifelong resident of Anton Chico, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025 at Alta Vista Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico surrounded by family. Juanita was born on August 8, 1934, in Chaperito, New Mexico to Serjia Olguin and Eduardo Baca. She attended school in Anton Chico until the 8th grade. She married Horacio Olguin in1954. Juanita lived a life devoted to family, faith, and service to others.
Throughout her life Juanita worked as a secretary through the HELP-NM Program at El Centro de La Loma. She was a homemaker and caregiver, roles that reflected her deep love and commitment to those around her. Juanita's nurturing spirit extended beyond immediate family, as she and husband Horacio played an integral role in raising their granddaughter Veronica Olguin and great-granddaughter Megan Zambrano.
A devout Catholic, Juanita was a faithful member of San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico NM. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life and provided her with strength and comfort. She found joy in simple pleasures such as shopping, going to yard sales, sewing, embroidery, and solving crossword puzzles. She also cherished routine rides through familiar places, finding peace in the beauty of her surroundings.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Horacio Olguin; sons Horacio Olguin Jr., Albert Olguin, and Stevan Baca; grandson Stevan (Stevie) Baca Jr.; sisters Erlinda Baca and Candida Baca; and brothers Eutimio Garcia and Adan Garcia.
She is survived by daughters Rose Tenorio of Santa Rosa, NM; Christine Tenorio and Camila Olguin of Anton Chico, NM; son Florencio Olguin and wife Roberta of Santa Rosa, NM; sister Clara Olguin and husband Juan of Anton Chico; Faustina Encinias of Albuquerque; as well as a host of extended family and friends. Juanita's legacy continues through 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was also a cherished godparent to Ambrosia Jaramillo, Cecilia Quintana, Jake Olguin, Lorraine Lucero, Napoleon Baca, and Becky Tenorio.
A Rosary will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 9:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, New Mexico (1081 Iglesia Road) immediately followed by Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow services at Sangre De Cristo Cemetery. Pallbearers honoring Juanita's memory include Napoleon Baca, Dr. Florencio Olguin Jr., Darren Tenorio, Isaac Herrera, Lucas Padilla, Evaristo Tenorio, Everette Tenorio Jr., and Elias Tenorio.
The family extends special thanks to the staff at La Vida Buena Healthcare Nursing Home for their compassionate care. Gratitude is also expressed to the nurses and doctors at Alta Vista Regional Hospital and the staff at Rogers Mortuary for their support during this time.
Juanita's kindness and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May their memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
