Julio Baca, age 86, a remarkable husband, father, grandfather and lifelong resident of Ilfeld, New Mexico, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at his home.
He was born in San Jose, New Mexico on June 17, 1923 to the late Julio Baca and Eufelia Villas-Baca.
He was united in marriage on December 25, 1980 to Celina Rivera.
He was a self-employed Mason. He was a member of the Laborer's International Union of North America for 50 years and a member of the Pecos School Board of Education 1967-1973. He loved horse racing, hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the San Miguel Del Vado Church in San Miguel, New Mexico and also served as Mayordomo for San Miguel Del Vado Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Julio and Eufelia Baca; wife: Aurelia Baca (1979); brothers: Benito Baca; Jose Berardo Baca; Flavio Montoya and Rodolfo Baca; sister: Bersabela Lopez.
He is survived by his wife: Celina Baca of Ilfeld, NM; sons & daughters: Manuel Baca (Sherry) of Denver, CO; Maria J. Lopez of Santa Fe, NM; David Baca (Leni) of Ilfeld, NM; Mary Ann Romero and husband Eddie of Santa Fe, NM; Annabell Madrid (Armando) of Los Angeles, CA and Arcy Baca (Cristine) of Santa Fe, NM; son-in-law: Paul O. Lopez of Santa Fe, NM; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren sisters & brother: Eloisa Arguello of San Miguel, NM; Erlinda Bustamante of Villanueva, NM; Tillie Gallegos of Los Lunas, NM; Josie Baca of Sena, NM; Florentino Baca of Portales, NM; sisters-in-law: Rebecca Quintana of Alamogordo, NM; Nestora Baca of Sena, NM and Andrea Montoya of Denver, CO; brother-in-law: Salomon Rivera of Los Angeles, CA; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 7:00pm at the San Miguel Del Vado Church, San Miguel, NM. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 10:00am at the San Miguel del Vado Church with Father Thomas Kayammakal as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Virgen De Guadalupe Cemetery in San Isidro Sur with the following serving as casket bearers: Bobby Romero, Paul Lopez, Jessie Baca, Manuel Baca, Jr., Tony Tecumseh and Armando Baca. Serving as honorary bearers will be all the rest of the grandchildren.
