Laverne George Lauxman went peacefully from this world to the club house of the Lord on August 17th 2023. He passed away quietly at home in the Pendaries New Mexico community. Born in the Abilene Kansas area on July 17th, 1937, to William and Margret Lauxman. LG graduated from Abeline High School and received his bachelor's from Fort Hays State College where he met the love of his life Sandra Ebersole. They were married in 1958. They had two sons: Craig born in 1960 and Mike born in 1962, both born in Overland Park, Kansas City, Kansas. In 1967 the family moved to Cape Girardeau Missouri. LG began working for Southeast Missouri State University and went on to receive his Masters from Southern Illinois University. LG retired as Director of Recreational Sports from SEMO in 1999 after 32 years, leaving behind the legacy of the Student Recreation Center, better known as the House That LG Built. After traveling the country for a few years, LG built a log mansion in the Pendaries community acting as his own general contractor and laborer. For 21 years, he served the community and loved playing golf and making sure the golf course was kept in shape.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Sandra, his son Craig and his wife Dori, his son Mike and his wife Susan, grandsons Nicholas, Garrett, and Jacob, Sister in-law Rosie.
A service in his honor will be held at the 19th hole at the Pendaries golf course, Wednesday August 23rd, 2023, at 11 AM. .
