Leonard P. DeHerrera Jr., 42 years old, of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on September 29, 2024

Leonard was born on May 9, 1983 to Leonard DeHerrera Sr and Esther Bernice Baca in Las Vegas, NM.  Leonard was a 2002 graduate of West Las Vegas HS

After graduating, Leonard attended Luna Community College and received a certificate in Early Childhood Education he then worked for the West Las Vegas school district as a teacher aide and substitute teacher, he loved helping children and enjoyed making friends. Leonard was very friendly and outgoing.  Leonard also enjoyed doing mechanical work and was always willing to help his family and friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his Mother:  Esther Bernice Baca his maternal grandparents Genevive Baca and Delfido Baca Sr, Paternal grandparents, Elisa DeHerrera-Romero and Alfonso DeHerrera.

He is survived by his son, Jesus DeHerrera, Father Leonard DeHerrera Sr, Stepmother Rose DeHerrera, Brother Kevin DeHerrera, nephew Jordan, nieces Annaztajia and Amialla DeHerrera, Special Aunt who raised him and he considered her as his mom, Corrine Martinez, Special cousin whom he considered as his sister Jackie Martinez-Urioste (Mike), Special cousin he considered as his Niece, Amberly Martinez and her son Jayden Martinez.  Special cousin, Benjie Pino.  Paternal Uncles, Flavio Baca and wife Bernadette of Rio Rancho, NM, Rudy Baca of Las Vegas, NM.  Paternal Aunt, Jeannette DeHerrera of Cheyenne Wyoming, Maternal Aunts, Florinda Vigil of Denver, CO, Angelina Salmeron (Frank) of Rowe, NM, Irene Corona (Modesto) of Las Vegas, NM and Uncle Gilbert Herrera of Albuquerque, NM  as well and numerous cousins and friends.

Rosary services will be held on Monday October 7, 2024 at 7pm at OLOS Church in Las Vegas, NM, Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 9am at OLOS Church in Las Vegas, NM with Father Rob Yaksich as Celebrant. Interment will take place at the Buena Vista cemetery with the following serving as Pallbearers, Eugene and Francisco Lucero, Eric Urioste, Jimmy, Fred and Marcelo Pino, honorary pallbearer Benjie Pino.
