January 11, 1953 – September 12, 2025
Leroy Juan Romo, age 72 and lifelong resident of Mora NM, passed away Friday evening at home surrounded by those whom loved him most. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Leroy leaves behind a legacy that we will all carry with us forever.
Leroy was born in Mora NM to Dora Serna and Samuel Romo where he was raised until the age of 6 where his family then moved to Albuquerque NM. Graduating from Highland High School in 1972 he began working numerous jobs until he pursued a career as a Crew Leader with Andrew Satellite Corporation until he retired in 1992. During his career with ASC he meet his wife Eleanor where they began a life together in Mora.
Following retirement, Leroy continued working as a self-employed contractor serving mainly the communities of Eagle Nest, Angel Fire and Black Lake NM.
On Leroy's downtime he enjoyed being outside, going fishing and visiting his property in El Alto. Leroy took pride in everything he did. He has left an imprint that can never be familiar to any other.
Leroy leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Eleanor Romo, son Theodore "Tad" Maes (Doris), daughter Bianca Romo (Fabian), grandsons Joaquin Maes, Xavier Martinez, Xander Martinez, most special grandson and right hand man Mikey Maes and granddaughter Estrella Maes. Brother, David Romo. Sisters Imo Lawton (Steve), Pricilla Davis (Elmer), and Naomi Jordan. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.
Welcomed into Heaven by his son Joaquin Martinez, parents Dora Serna and Samuel Romo, Brother Jerry Romo, sisters Mary Steele, Patricia Cruz, and Margaret Louise Romo.
Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 9:30am funeral mass will follow both services will be held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church with Father Paul Grala S.O.L.T. as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Joaquin Cemetery in Pinabetal, NM with the following serving as Pallbearers; son, Theodore "Tad" Maes, grandsons Joaquin and Mikey Maes, nephew Mike Cook, cousin Raymond Pino, and son-in-law Fabian Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughter Estrella Maes and grandsons Xavier and Xander Martinez.
