After battling heart disease for nearly his entire life, Lorenzo peacefully passed away at the age of 81 at home, surrounded by the familiar comfort of his own space. Even in death, he maintained control—deciding how and when his journey would end. Throughout his life, Lorenzo sought love and acceptance, enduring much heartache but always holding a deep and unwavering love for his family.

Lorenzo had an extraordinary ability to rise above life's challenges, reinventing himself time and time again. He lived fully, filled with many loves, extensive travel, and a deep sense of pride in his possessions. Yet, in the end, it was his daughters and grandchildren who meant the most to him.

Lorenzo was preceded in death by his parents, Candido and Andreaita Montoya, as well as his siblings Alice, Sara, Edna, Theodore, and Celia.

He is survived by his brother, Nelson; his children, Carol (Mick), Lori (Brian), Diane, and Christy; six grandchildren, Mickey, Sara, Toni, Elijah, Sonia and Jeremiah; four great-grandchildren, Elena, Kora, Eva, and Cruz; as well as nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, beginning with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow at San Antonio Cemetery in Cleveland, NM with the following serving as Pallbearers; Mickey Grant, II, Elijah Prien, Miguel Aguilar, Justin Lucero, Max Romero and Matthew Duran. Honorary Pallbearers; Sonia Signh and Jeremiah Prien.
