Lucia "Lucy" Trujillo, age 75, a resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and originally from Cleveland, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. She was born on September 28, 1950, to Juan Patricio Trujillo and Anne Martinez Trujillo.

Lucy dedicated 28 years to West Las Vegas Schools as a beloved school teacher, where she was known for her deep love and commitment to her students. She also worked as an interior decorator with Home Interiors and Gifts, Inc. for over 40 years. In addition, Lucy proudly owned and operated The Sign Wizard for 10 years.

Lucy was very active in her community. She served as a Girl Scout leader, led the 4-H Club for several years, and taught multiple dance groups. She found great joy in cooking for her family, and many cherished holidays were celebrated in her home. Lucy had a strong Catholic faith and loved dancing, attending concerts, and nurturing her plants.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan Patricio Trujillo and Anne Martinez Trujillo; sister, Rafaela Porter; brother, Pat Trujillo; best friend, Sofia Romero Williamson; nephew, Patrick Trujillo; and great-nephews, James Porter and Antonio Larrañaga.

Lucy is survived by her son, Kenneth Miguel Abeyta (Nicole), and the young man she grew to love as a son, Luis "Payaso" Sanchez (Amanda); her grandchildren, Luke, Darius, and Santiago Abeyta; and her siblings: Carmen Bishop (Herman), Celina Saavedra (Antonio), Juvencio "Lencho" Trujillo, Lydia Trujillo, and Faustin Trujillo (Elizabeth).

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Richard Bishop, Jenna Bishop, Cathy Marshall (Henry), Margaret Sanchez, Jennie Duran (Richard), Ralph Saavedra, Regina Larrañaga, Jake Porter, Linda Porter (Dennis), Jimmy Porter (Mavia), Jessica Villanueva (Eric), Celina Porter (Kiahle), Josie Nash (Tony), Karen Murillo (Phillip), Patrick Urioste, Raquel Trujillo, Anna Trujillo, and Stephanie George (Dave), as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Public viewing will be held at Rogers Mortuary on Sunday, March 1, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be held Monday, March 2, at 9:30 a.m., immediately followed by the Funeral Mass both services to be held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, NM. Interment will follow at San Antonio Catholic Cemetery in Cleveland, New Mexico, with the following serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Porter, Eric Villanueva, Paul Martinez, Luke Abeyta, Darius Abeyta, and Santiago Abeyta.
