Lucy Tafoya age 85 a resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
She was born on August 30, 1932 to Andres Abelino Gutierrez and Aurelia Garcia in Trujillo, New Mexico. She was united in marriage on September 1, 1948 to Leonires Tafoya in Las Vegas, NM.
Lucy was an avid bingo player. She loved to play card games, cook and craft. She was a good barber and seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Leonires Tafoya; son: James Tafoya and numerous brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her sons and daughters: Julian Tafoya of Albuquerque, NM; Rebecca Gonzales and husband Gene of Las Vegas, NM; Richard Tafoya and wife Anita of Española, NM; Deborah Martinez and husband William; Michael Tafoya all of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Rosary service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 9:00am at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral service will immediately follow at 9:30am also at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 9:45am at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM with the following serving as Casket bearers: Gene Gonzales, Richard Tafoya, Michael Tafoya, William Martinez, Jr., Joseph Martinez and William Martinez Sr. Honorary bearers will be Andrew Gonzales, Travis Enoch and all her grandchildren.
