Obituary

Luis Samuel Garcia, born on August 28, 1937, in Guadalupita, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend whose wisdom, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of so many.

Luis lived a full and happy life, he served in the U.S. Navy and was given an honorable discharge in November 1959. Upon completion of his term, he went on to become the Sheriff in Mora County where he temporarily served before he became an officer at Highlands University where he dedicated 25 years of service and eventually retired. Luis was known for his kindness and unwavering love for others, no matter where he went or who he met they were always greeted with a handshake and a warm smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents Severino Garcia and Lucy Garcia. His brothers Joe, George, Epimenio and Manuel Garcia. His sisters Rosa Vialpando (Fred Vialpando), Mabel Brown (Jack Brown) and Maggy Martin. Special niece Georgia Reyes. Nephew Clarence Garcia. Sister-in-law Helen Garcia. His stepdaughter Darla, and lastly hisbeautiful wife Clarice M. Garcia.

Luis is survived by his loving son David Garcia and wife Destiny Garcia along with his beloved grandchildren Emma Rose Garcia and David James Garcia. His other beloved granddaughter Adriana Ransby (Reece). His stepdaughters Lisa Apodaca and Mona Spence. His sisters Priscilla Martinez and Dolores Mirabal (Phil), Sister-in-laws Pearl Garcia and Angie Garcia. Along with many other grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation has taken place and services for our dear Luis will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Rosary will take place on February 26, 2025, at 6:00pm with Military Honors, Funeral will take place on February 27, 2025, at 9:00am with the burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
