With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Manuel Archuleta, who passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on May 18, 1941, in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Natividad "Tillie" Archuleta; his brothers, Ernesto "Tudy", Benny and Guadalupe Archuleta; his sisters, Anita Archuleta; his mother- and father-in-law, Liria M. and Jose D. Trujillo; his brothers-in-law, Pete, George, and James Trujillo; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Manuel leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Sinfer Archuleta, whom he shared a lifetime of love since their marriage on June 30, 1973, along with his children:
Debbie (Adam) Estrada and their children Robert, Rylee, and Roland; Lorraine Benavidez and her children Priscilla (Edward) Mares, David, and Joyce Benavidez; Eulalia "Lala" and Joseph Archuleta and his children Yvonne and William Archuleta; Angela Archuleta and her children Diego (Gabby) and Dave (Jen) Lopez; Manuel Jeffery Harper and his children Jeffrey Wayne Archuleta, Neveah and Aaliyah Harper.
He is also survived by his sister, Fabby Archuleta; his special nieces, Audrene and Destiny Dominguez; special nephews Kevin Dominguez(Alicia), Adam Villalva(Antoinette), Ricky Archuleta and special cousin Archie Archuleta whom he cared for; sisters-in-law, Shirley Trujillo and family, Patsy (John) Trujillo and family, brothers-in-law, Johnny (Lillian) Trujillo and family, Joseph (Clara) Trujillo and family, as well as many extended family and friends.
Manuel was a hardworking man his entire life. As a child, he sold newspapers and shined shoes to earn money. He left and worked in the fields in Texas. He later returned to Las Vegas where he worked with Brown's Construction and as a mechanic. He served as an LPN at the New Mexico State Hospital, worked as a bus driver, and held various positions as a bartender and security guard in local liquor establishments.
Manuel also dedicated himself to community service. He was the assistant coordinator for the Migrant Program and the assistant director for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He proudly served as a deputy sheriff for San Miguel County and was a Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Church, delivering communion to the home-bound. Prior to his illness, he spent 10 years as the co-manager of La Cantina. After his retirement he worked for Walmart.
Among his proudest accomplishments was becoming a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Manuel will be remembered and forever loved as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who offered prayers, love, and support. A special thank you to Father Rob Yaksich and the team at Anvoi Hospice, especially Nurses Maggie, Amanda, Dottie, Dr. Gallegos and Serenity, for their care and compassion. Also thank you to everyone who has brought food, the prayers, love and support, as well as the cards. Thank you to Rose Gallegos, Carla O'neal, and Rita Garcia for praying the Rosary. Ralph and Yolanda Padilla, the Knights of Columbus, Deacon Ernest Chavez (Darlene) for the use of the Fr. George Center, and to Rogers Mortuary and Staff.
A Rosary will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Fr. Rob Yaksich as celebrant.
Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery with the following serving as pall bearers Aiden and Isaac Leyba, Joe Baca, Eric Lovato, Michael Martinez and Ben Maynes. Honorary pallbearers are Frankie and Amadeo Montoya and Jayden Lovato, Robert, Rylee and Roland Estrada, Andres, Reyes and Elena Lopez, the Knights of Columbus along with all his nieces and nephews.
