Marcus Mercedes Montano Jr, 31 years old was received by our Lord on September 3, 2023 with loved ones and friends by his side. Marcus was born on June 28, 1992 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Marcus Montano, Sr. and Kathy Maes.

Marcus loved life and he loved his family, even in death Marcus continues to spread love and life through organ donation.

Marcus is not gone, his journey has just begun, he is resting from his sorrows and tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days or years. Just know how he must be wishing that we could know today that he is happy and is only a heartbeat away. Marcus your presence will be sorely missed, your memories will be treasured. Loving You always, forgetting never. Think of Marcus as living in the hearts of those he touched for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.

He was very passionate about art and found joy in making others feel beautiful through cosmetology. He expressed his creativity through painting writing and cooking.

Marcus is survived by his father Marcus Montano, Sr., his mother Kathy Maes (Jesus Ortiz); siblings Robin and Macario Montano, Joe and Jasmine Garcia and Nisa Ortiz and has Loving partner Max Johnson. Numerous loving family members and very special friends.

He is preceded in death Father's side; great-grandmother Nash Agnes Lujan Martin, Helen Gallegos; Uncles, Gerald Lujan and Johnny Montano; Cousin, Luciano Montoya; Mother's side grandmother Rebecca Maes, grandfather Daniel Maes, great-grandmother Josie Romero, Anne Martinez, great-grandfather Pat Romero and many more.

Services will be held at the Castaneda Hotel Courtyard (Marcus style) on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 2:00pm. A reception will follow the service.  Pallbearers are Joe Garcia, Jasmine Garcia, Max Johnson, Isis Schaller, Michelle Maestas and Robin Montano.  Honorary pallbearers are Macario Montano and Josiah Barajas.  Cremation will follow services and burial of Marcus's cremains will be at a later date.
