Obituary

Maria Evangelina (Angie) Padilla Martinez was 85 years old, and a longtime resident of Gascon, New Mexico. She passed away on Saturday April 19, 2025, at her daughter Lucille's home. She was born on January 14, 1940, to Raymundo and Vicenta Padilla in Ribera, New Mexico.

Gramma Angie is reunited into the arms of her beloved husband Raymundo Martinez Jr. She married Raymundo Martinez Jr. on September 4, 1971, at San Miguel Del Vado Church in Ribera, New Mexico.

She was a lifelong Catholic and member of the Immaculate Conception Parish Church, Our Lady of Sorrows Church, and St. Gertrude's Church. She was a Catholic Daughter and a member of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

She is preceded in death by her husband Raymundo Martinez Jr., her parents Raymundo and Vicenta Padilla, her in-laws Reymundo Martinez Sr. and Encarnacion (Chon) T. Martinez. Brothers – Natividad Padilla, Raymundo Jr. Padilla, Raymond Padilla, and David Padilla. Her Sisters-Lillian Gutierrez, Jennie Bahrs, Tina Montano, Rose Saiz, Clara Trujillo, Odelia Tapia, Margaret Padilla and Aurelia Padilla. Brothers in-laws-Don Bahrs, Robert Montano, Rosendo Tapia, Robert Valencia, Leonard Tapia. Sisters in-laws-Theresa Padilla, and Susan Padilla.

She is survived by her son George R. Martinez (Yvonne), and her daughter Lucille E. Martinez (Thomas). Her Granddaughter Amberlynn Gallegos (Jared). Her Grandsons George Martinez (Shianne), Travis Martinez (Brandy), Troy Martinez (Kristen), Raymundo F. Melendez (Carmen), and Mario A. Martinez (Rebecca). She is also survived by her eleven great-grandchildren, her sisters Mary Tapia and family, and Gavina Valencia, and family. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was a very loving wife, mother, godmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and aunt. She loved to sew, cook, crochet, do puzzles, plant in the garden, read, listen to music, and go to the senior citizens in Mora and Las Vegas. With her cooking she enjoyed making Panocha sweet Spanish dessert for lent, chokecherry and plum jelly, Enchiladas red or green, cheese, stews, and drinking her favorite soda Coca-Cola. She especially loved hanging out/ spending time with her loved ones.

I would like to thank Amanda (nurse), Ashley, Shirley and Amber from Amber Care, who took loving care of our mom. I would like to thank Mario A. Martinez for helping take care of his grandma till the end. Thanks to Frank Splendoria for taking our mom Communion / visiting. Thanks to Irene Melendez for ironing mom's wedding dress. Thanks to Cathy Benavidez for the music. Thanks to Roger's Mortuary for their Services. Thanks to Hatcha's for catering after services.  Thanks to the Charros Benerrito, Theresa and James Gallegos for singing at my mom's grave and the Catholic Daughters for praying the rosary. Thanks to everyone for all the visits, and calls during this tough time. Thanks to everyone that brought food, drinks, and company. Thanks to Father Rob for her funeral services. Thanks to Aaron Atencio for lending the Clubhouse for her reception.

Her Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Monday May 5, 2025, at 9:00 am (Rosary) and 9:30 am Funeral Mass. She will be laid to rest at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery at La Cañada in Upper Rociada. Pallbearers: Raymundo F. Melendez, Mario A. Martinez, George Martinez, Amberlynn Gallegos, Troy Martinez, and Travis Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers: Jake Gamel, Kenn Martinez, Kateri Melendez, Cassiel Gallegos, and the rest of her great grandchildren. Following her services, a luncheon will be held at the Club house in Pendaries.

God Bless everyone for all that was done for my mom. May our mom rest in Peace. We are going to miss you, until we met again. We Love you.
