Maria Erlinda Martinez, age 87 a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022 in Santa Fe, NM.

She was born on September 12, 1934 to Pablo and Barbarita Griego in Serafina, NM.

She had a heart of gold and she raised 9 of her children and 11 grandchildren.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Roman Martinez brothers: Francisco "Kiko" Griego, Simon Griego and Ramon Griego.; sister: Petra Gonzales; granddaughters: Amanda Martinez, Ernestine Martinez and Erlinda Martinez.

She is survived by her children: Jose Martinez (JoAnn), Frances Martinez (Manuel) both of Las Vegas, NM, Cleo Martinez (Jose) of Colorado Springs, CO, Sandra Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO, Nash Martinez (Judy) of Mora, NM, Juanita Tarango (Ceaser) of Colorado Springs, CO, Bernie Martinez of Santa Rosa, NM, Reina Martinez (Elfie) and Marvin Martinez both of Las Vegas, NM; 35 grandchildren; 93 great grandchildren; numerous: great great grandchildren; brothers: Ignacio Griego of La Junta, CO, Jacobo Griego of Las Vegas, NM, Esequiel Griego (Dorothy) of Tecolote, NM and Santiago Griego (Erlinda) of Las Vegas, NM; sister-in-law: Maria Griego of Las Vegas, NM; special friends: Pita Salas of Ojitos Frios, NM; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rosary service will be recited on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 9:00am both services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM.

Interment will follow at the Tecolote Cemetery in Tecolote, NM with the following serving as pallbearers Angelo Pacheco, Miguel Martinez, Valentine Martinez, Roman Martinez, Rudy Griego and Pablo Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be all her remaining grandchildren and great grandchildren.
