Maria J. Sanchez age, 87, a resident of Chacon, NM passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 18, 1937 to Jose and Adonilia Montoya in Chacon, NM.

Maria married Estevan Sanchez on April 25, 1967 at the Holy Family Church in Chimayo, NM.

She enjoyed weaving, puzzles, planting, taking pictures, dancing, splitting firewood, quilting and gardening.

She is preceded in death by her daughter: Maria Sanchez; brothers: Tony, Willie, Paul Duran, Alex Montoya and Joe Montoya; sister: Mary Dominguez; special niece: Patsy Duran.

Maria is survived by her husband: Estevan Sanchez; children: Michael Sanchez (Margie), Robert Sanchez (Gwendolyn), Jenny Rivas (Raymond), Sarah Sanchez (Lorenzo) and Rita Arellano (Carlos); grandchildren: David Rivas, Audrey Gilbert, Brandon Garcia, Stephanie Carrillo, Santana Carrillo, Estrella Carrillo, Jaime Arellano, Margarita Arellano, Carlos A. Arellano, Deion Sanchez, Jared Sanchez and Olivia Sanchez; great grandchildren: Emilio, Marcus and Ariel Rivas, Jade and Julia Gilbert, Danielle Chavez, Ignacio and Adrian Romero, Mariana and Marisol Garcia; brother and sister: Raymond Duran and Virginia Duran (Elias);sister-in-law Darlene Duran; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 9:30am funeral mass will follow both services will be held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church with Father Paul Grala S.O.L.T. as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Antonio Cemetery in Chacon, NM with the following serving as pallbearers David, Brandon, Jaime, Carlos Jr., Deion and Jared. Honorary pallbearers will be Audrey, Stephanie, Santana, Estrella, Margarita and Olivia.
