With heavy hearts we announce that Maria Madrid, 91 passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 in Las Vegas, NM.  She was born on August 3, 1934 in Tecolotito, NM to the late Quirino Urioste and Eloisa Lucero.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Tobias Madrid, her parents, son Ramon Madrid, twin sister Rita Romero, sisters Linora Urioste, Marcelina Velasquez and Erlinda U. Villanueva.

Maria is survived by her children Lorraine Matta (Jessie), Chano  Madrid (Antonia) daughter in law Erma Madrid,  sons Tobias Madrid Jr. and Eric Madrid all of Tecolotito, NM. Daughters Zenaida Madrid of Santa Rosa, NM and Elizabeth Matta(Mike) of Amarillo, TX.  Granchildren: Rudy, Greg, Cenovia, Frank, James, Sadie, Bryan, Dennis, Denise, Ben, Frances and Michelle.  Numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Maria loved to do crafts, make tortillas and spend time with her family and friends.  She loved spending time with her husband Tobias where they took pride in gardening.  She will be sadly missed.

A graveside service will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Sangre de Cristo Cemetery in  Upper Anton Chico, NM with Deacon Marvin Marquez as celebrant.  Pallbearers will be James Madrid, Greg Encinias, Dennis Olguin, Jessie Aranda, Drake Lucero and Julian Ortega.
