Maria I. Sanchez was born on July 9, 1935. Our mother passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2024 surrounded by family. She was born to Manuel Saiz and Sofia Saiz in Las Vegas, NM. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and sister. She will forever live in our hearts and will always remember her as being the loving, caring and hardworking person she was.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arsenio Sanchez; her infant daughter, Grace Marie and her great grandson, Santiago Lopez , Antonio Lopez and her parents, Manuel and Sofia Saiz; brothers, Steve Saiz, Dominico Saiz, Delfinio Saiz and Frank Saiz. Her sons-in-law David Baca and Andres Baca.

She is survived by her children, Rita Pacheco (Elmo) of Trementina, NM; Cathy Sanchez of Las Vegas, NM; Elaine Baca (John) of Las Vegas, NM; Raymond Sanchez (Candy); and Dorothy Gonzales (Eddie) of Sapello, NM. Grandchildren: Henry Pacheco (Tom), Charlie Pacheco (Karen), Patricia Pacheco, Audrianna Pacheco (Nate), Jesse Baca, Germaine Ha (Hieu), Rosemary Sanchez (Sam), Ramona Sanchez, Jerry Gonzales and Jeremy Gonzales (Selena). Great grandchildren: Bogdon Dahdouh, John Dahdouh, Angelica Pacheco, Aubri Martinez, Isaiah Valdez, Antonio Valdez, Alyssa Ha (Rythem), Brandon Ha, Cruz Ha, Marcos (Kristen) Baca, Justiss Baca (Maya), Christian Baca, Jordan Jaramillo, Isaiah Jaramillo, Kobe Jaramillo, Benito Lujan, Roberto Garza, Mariela Gonzales, Viviana Gonzales, Luciano Rascon, Marcelino Rascon. Great great grandchildren: Gigi Baca, Arya Lucero and Aspen Valdez. Her brothers, Margarito Saiz and Raymundo Saiz (Margie) and her sisters, Viola Ortega, Vita Lucero, Anita Lucero. Sister in laws: Marcella Gonzales and Lucy Yara and brother-in-law: Ernesto Sanchez.

The family would like to thank her caretakers that took care of her this past year and Amber Care for their service. Would also like to thank Shirley Sandoval, Chaplain for being there for my mom.

Rosary will be on December 16, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Las Vegas, NM. Funeral mass on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Las Vegas, NM and burial immediately following mass at San Isidro Cemetery, Trujillo, NM. Pallbearers: Charlie Pacheco, Jesse Baca, Jerry Gonzales, Jeremy Gonzales, Bogdan Dahdouh and Justiss Baca. Honorary Pallbearers: all other grandchildren and great and great great grandchildren.
