Maria Marica Segura-Ortiz, 101, of Las Vegas, NM, was called to meet our Almighty Father on October 8, 2025. She was born on March 8, 1924 to Donato and Abelina Padilla-Segura in San Jose, NM.

Marica met and married her husband Federico Ortiz in 1941 in Bernal, NM. Marica and Federico went on to have 5 children; Fred Jr., Lydia, Henry, Roberto, and Dennis Ortiz.

Marica was a life-long faithful member of the Mountainview Church of Christ. She lived a life of humbleness and servanthood, and was a proud homemaker. When you visited her home you always found beans cooking on the stove, fresh bread, and green chili. Most importantly, she was sitting at her corner spot with an open Bible. Of all the goodness in her life she was a faithful servant to GOD. Her family will be forever grateful to her for the example she set and the lessons she taught with her beautiful spirit.

Marica is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Federico, sons Fred Ortiz Jr., Henry Ortiz, daughter Lydia Montoya, son-in-law, Antonio, beloved sister and best friend Agneda Baca, brother Alfonso Segura and grandson Dominic David Ortiz.

She is survived by her children Robert (Mary Helen) and Dennis (Sharon) Ortiz; Brother, Rudy Segura; Daughter-in-law Dolores Ortiz; Grandchildren Gilbert, Richard, Leonard, Patrykk (Jenny), Steven, Michelle (Anthony) Marquez, JennieMae (Leonard) Romero, Gloria Ortiz (Gerard Garcia), Roberto Jr. (Mandy), Reuben, Dennis James, Sarai Renee (Lorenzo Aragon); Great-grandchildren Justina, Ronnie (Mariah), Makayla (Adam Martinez), Larissa Renee Ortiz, Timothy, Caleb (Francesca), Mia Marquez, Leonard J. (Karla) Romero, Gabriella (Anthony) Frosco, Anasofia Tafoya, Bobby, Aubrey Ortiz, Nathaniel James, Maddalynn Grace Aragon and Great-great grandchildren; Ronnie Jr., Zayden, Elianna Ortiz, Everly, Elijah Martinez, Caleb John, Emma Grace and Elianna Marquez.

Marica was instrumental in raising many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with strong Chrisitian values, and an abundance of love and affection. Marica was the matriarch of the home and all enjoyed being in her presence. She endearingly called us Bonito, Bonita, Chiquito or Chiquita.

For the past 8 years our beloved momma and grandma, resided at Mesquite Long-term Care facility. As a family we could not have asked for better care emotionally and physically. She was very loved and cared for by all staff. They impacted her life as much as she did theirs, for that we are grateful!

Serving as pallbearers are her grandchildren and friend: Roberto Jr., Reuben, Dennis James, Sarai Renee Ortiz, Timothy Marquez, Leonard J. Romero, Gabriella Frosco and Beverlynn Navarrette. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grand/great and great-great grandchildren and the Segura-Baca family.

We will miss our queen with all our hearts and souls and we look forward to the day when we can be together again.

It's not "goodbye" mama… It's a "we'll see you later". Until we meet again.
