Mariquita Gallegos died suddenly on June 13, 2022 and went to be with the lord.

Mariquita was born in 1917 and raised in Monte Aplanado, NM.

She was the first of eight children born to Moises Pacheco and Pirilia Espinoza Pacheco. She was married to Jose Amadeo Gallegos Sr. for 48 years. Her husband preceded her in death on February 27, 1982. She is also preceded in death by six of her 17 children; two children Juanito and Juanita died at birth, Alfonso, Jose Amadeo Jr., Gilbert Gallegos and one daughter Dolly Gallegos Youngblood.

Mariquita is survived by her 11 children: Bernie Gallegos of Monte Aplanado, NM, Emelina Baca (Mike Pino) of Belen, NM, Abenancio Gallegos of Denver, CO, Lucille Shoemaker of Port Orchard, WA, Nora Montoya (Felix) of Albuquerque, NM, Reyes Gallegos (Cathy) of Denver, CO, Rosa Martinez of Los Lunas, NM , Martha Gallegos of Eastvale CA, Elsie Gallegos of Guadalupita, NM, Bernice Leyba (Lupe) of Coyote, NM and Lorenzo Gallegos (Sophie) of Buena Vista, NM. She is also survived by 49 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.

At 105 years old, she credited her secret to her longevity to staying active, healthy eating (no processed foods), spending time with family, her faith in God and her meticulous loving, and selfless care given to her by her loving daughter Elsie.

Mariquita was an amazing woman! She was beautiful inside and out, wise, spiritual, selfless, independent, genuine, resourceful, strong, resilient, generous and humorous,

Family visits made her happy. Her face lit up when she spent time her grandchildren great and great great grandchildren. She also had a passion for sewing and loved to gift her grandchildren with her hand crafted aprons.

Mariquita joined the Guadaupanas in 1981 and was an active member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church.

Those who were blessed to know Mariquita will be left with beautiful memories of her. She is now pain free and in a beautiful place with the lord!

Rosary service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be conducted on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10:00am with both services to be held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, NM with Father Paul Grala S.O.L.T. as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Santo Nino cemetery in Monte Aplanado, NM with the following serving as Pallberars Lewis Gallegos, Michael Montoya, Gabriel Montoya, Jeremy Herrera, Montyrey Herrera and Nick Martinez.
