Mark Anthony Barela, 54 a resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022. He was born on August 6, 1968 to Dan and Teresa Barela.
Mark was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and awesome friend. He made a living driving 18 wheelers all around the country. His greatest passion was riding his Harley Davidson all over New Mexico! On his down time, he loved spending time with his family. Mark always had a smile on his face and was always joking around! His humor will be greatly missed.
Mark is preceded in death by his Father; Dan Barela, Maternal Grandparents; Enrique & Sotera Gomez, Paternal Grandparents; Cresenciano Barela and Eduvijen Trujillo, Sisters; Gloria Marquez & Sandra Barela, Brother; Chris Barela, and Granddaughter; Alexis Barela.
He is survived by his Mother: Teresa Barela of Las Vegas, NM; Longtime companion; Olga Juarez of Carlsbad, NM; Sons; Mark Barela (Adelle), Jacob Sanchez (Bridget) both of Las Vegas, NM; Daughter: Sarah Barela (Christopher) of Las Vegas, NM; Grandkids; Arianna, Marcus, Aleigha, Janessa, Alexis, Shania, Eleanor, Fabian, Marivell, Infinity, and Destine, Best Friend & Mother of his children; Judy Sanchez of Las Vegas NM, Sister; Brenda Esquibel (James) of Amarillo, TX; Nephews; Theodore, Leonard (Peggy), James (Crystal), and Daniel, Nieces; Melissa (Joshua), Jessica (Johnny) and Jennifer. Aunts; Mary Alirez, Isabel Lucero (Epifanio), Uncles; Arturo Gomez, Willie Gomez (Carmen), Salomon Gomez (Rebecca), Manuel Barela (Flora), Sam Barela (Melva), numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many friends.
Rosary services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 7:00pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 9:00am with both services to be held at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as Celebrant.
Interment will take place after funeral service at St. Anthony Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM with the following to serve as Pallbearers, Theodore Marquez, Leonard Marquez, James Esquibel, Joshua Gonzales, Johnny Sanchez, James (Turbo) Jaramillo, Gerald Baca, Joshua C. Gonzales, and Jonathon Gonzales. Honorary bearers are his remaining grandchildren, Donald Gallegos, John Pacheco, and Henry Rosas.
