Mary Geraldine Gallegos, 77, of Las Vegas, NM, lovingly known as “Gerree”, peacefully entered the Gates of Heaven alongside her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, while being surrounded by her loving family at home on April 17, 2026.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to all who knew her. She had the most warm and generous heart and spirit toward anyone whom she crossed paths with.

Mary was born to the late Fred and Josie Hern on January 15, 1949, in Ilfeld, NM. She grew up and was raised in Las Vegas, NM, where she graduated from Robertson High School. She then pursued her Associate’s degree in business from a trade school in Albuquerque, NM.

Mary was later married and lived in Las Vegas, NV, where she bore and raised 2 children, and had a successful career as a Supervisor in a Medical Laboratory. She returned back home to NM many years later to take care of her elderly parents and began working as a cashier for Franken Tire Center and later retired as Store Manager for Phillips 66 Better Stop convenience store.

Mary was a faithful and dedicated member of Cornerstone Church for many years where she was very active in her bible study, prayer group, community outreach events and prison ministries. She was very courageous and bold in her faith and wanted to declare the truth of the word of the Lord to all people who were lost and broken and needed to know that Jesus could give them the hope and strength they needed. She volunteered for numerous years at the Parish Hall where she prepared, served, and distributed food to all who needed a warm meal. It brought her great joy and peace to see all the smiles on people’s faces as she served, prayed, and gave words of encouragement to them.

She is preceded by death by her parents Fred and Josie Hern, sisters Melva Roybal and Carol Romero, Uncle Ed Hern, Aunts Ella Hern,Charlotte and Nora, cousin Joseph Hern, niece Debra Roybal, and nephew Gene Hern.

Mary is survived by her children Margaret and Patrick Gallegos with wife Candelaria, grandchildren; Spencer, Taylor, Hailee Gallegos and Carter Conkle, Kandee, Kellsee, Klahree, Khloee and Patrick Carlos Gallegos of Las Vegas, NM. Brothers; Clarence, LeRoy and Joe Hern of Las Vegas, NM, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and sisters and brothers in Christ. She will be dearly missed as she was loved by all who knew her.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at Cornerstone Church in Las Vegas, NM on May 6, 2026, at 10:00am given by Pastor Mark Saiz, followed by her burial at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Charlies Spic and Span Bakery and Café in Las Vegas, NM.
