Obituary

The family of Mary Jean Lujan (aka) Gina to family & friends is saddened to announce her passing on January 29, 2025.

Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her.

She was born in Las Vegas, NM on February 12, 1947, to the late Melecio Perea and Tillie Rivera-Perea. She was united in marriage to Dennis Lujan Sr on July 2, 1966. Together they raised four children Brenda, Theresa, Dennis Jr and Aaron who were the treasures of her heart. She was surrounded by their love at the time of her passing.

She has been retired for 15 years from New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute where she was employed as a Medical Records Specialist. She also worked as a CNA for the State Community Based Services and cared for the loved ones of many in our community.

She began her career of compassion working as a CNA for St. Anthony's Hospital in Las Vegas alongside her mother.

She was a 1966 graduate of WLVHS.

She is preceded in death by her father Melecio Perea Sr, mother Domitilia (Tillie) Rivera-Perea, brothers Paul Perea, Mel Perea, her father-in-law Meliton Lujan Sr, mother-in-law Abenicia Lujan, In-laws Armando Lujan/Mary Louise Lujan, Gene Lujan, Meliton Lujan Jr/Alice Lujan, Lucas Lujan, Lucy Aragon/Johnny Aragon and Kathy Perea.

She is survived by the love of her life Dennis Lujan Sr. Her children Brenda Manning (Steve) of Las Vegas, NM, Theresa Martinez (Albert) of Hooper, UT, Dennis Lujan Jr (Veronica) of Las Vegas, NM, and Aaron Lujan of San Antonio, TX. Her grandchildren Marc Manning (Chase) and Kelly Manning all of Albq, NM, Branden Martinez of Hooper, UT, Kristian Martinez of Ogden, UT, Dennis Lujan III (Diana), Christopher Lujan (Leslie), and Alyssa Duran (Kevin) all of Las Vegas, NM. Her great-grandchildren Isabela & Santiago Lujan; Lucas & Riley Lujan; Zayden, Kaylee & Jordan Duran. Her siblings Eddie Perea (Marcella), Robert Perea, Rose Marie Bustamante, Rose Marie Ann Pino, Michael Perea, Frances Martinez (Joe Jeff). Her in-laws Amy Perea, Jane Lujan, and Antonia Lujan and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Mary Jean was a devoted Catholic and a life-long parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 9:30 am also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Cremation has taken place and interment of cremains will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
