Obituary

Mary Jane (Espinoza) Lujan, 86, went to be with Our Lord on July 1st in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and sister. She was born in 1935 in Canoncito de Manuelita to Maria and Bergil Espinoza. She was the oldest of six children and took great pride in her ability to help take care of all her siblings.

The love of her life was her husband, Eloy Lujan, whom she met in Canoncito, and they were six months away from celebrating 60 wonderful years of marriage. She often talked about how beautiful her husband always made her feel and how he adored her. The two of them could be found Saturday nights dancing at the ranch to the music of two guitarists and a saxophone player. Together they had a son, Samuel Lujan, who was her pride and joy.

She worked hard all her life and accomplished many things. For several years she worked at Meastas Nursing Home. Then she went to work at the State Hospital for over 20 years, doing custodial work before retiring. She was so modest and gracious, and would never boast about herself, but her husband would tell the grandkids how everyone at the state hospital loved her and that they were always impressed by how skillfully and diligently she worked.

A devout Catholic, Mary Jane prayed the rosary every day and was often found reading her prayer book. In her spare time she was an expert embroiderer, impressive artist, and master "circle a word" puzzle solver. In addition, she always had time for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and would brag about all their accomplishments to her sisters. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Maria Montoya and Bergil Espinoza; brother in laws Bob Yeaman, Manuel Montano; sister in law Agnes Lujan. She is survived by her devoted husband, Eloy Lujan; son Samuel (Joann) Lujan; grandkids Samantha (Justin) Segura, Robert (Tina) Lujan, Christopher (Tianna) Lujan; great grandchildren Jacob Segura, Benjamin Lujan, Vaneska Lujan, Robbie Lujan, Angel Sanchez, Adrian Sanchez, Aaron Gabaldon; Goddaughters Danon Espinoza and Suzanne Yeaman Lancaster; siblings Bertha (Ignacio) Trujillo, Aggie Yeaman, Rita Montano, Arthur Espinoza, Fred Espinoza; brother in laws Lorenzo (Bonnie) Lujan and Orlando Lujan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Anvoi Hospice nurse Anna Rodriguez and Dr. Frank Gallegos for their loving care. We also appreciate Father George Salazar for coming to do the Anointing of the Sick and for offering the funeral mass. We also would like to thank pallbearers Benji Espinoza, Jose Harris, Seferino Medina II, Seferino Medina III, and Stevie Montano and Ignancio Trujillo.

The rosary will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday July 8th at 8pm.
