Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Mary Rosana Romero passed into eternal life on January 18, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born in Chacon, New Mexico on July 9, 1927, to Frutoso and Rafelita Garcia. Mary left behind a legacy of kindness, service, and will always be remembered as a loving Godly Christian woman.

Mary was married to Litra J. Romero on May 6, 1946 and lived in Las Vegas, New Mexico her entire life. She is survived by three children Donald, Pancho and Loretta; also surviving Mary are five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mary's kindness extended well beyond her immediate family to the residents of Las Vegas and beyond. She was known as a second mother, confidant, and friend to countless members of the community. She held close lifelong friendships, especially with her friends Enedine and Helen with whom she shared many adventures as "Las Tres Amigas", traveling across the southwest in their golden years. She was known as Mary or Mrs. Romero to the many students of West Las Vegas who she fed and welcomed into her home in times of celebration and family crisis.

Mary served in many roles as a Catholic Daughter, Sacred Heart, Las Vegas Hospital Auxiliary, WLV Band Parents Organization, Immaculate Conception Church and as a wife, mother, and aunt. She was also that smiling, kind employee at her many jobs throughout the years: Newberry's, Spic and Span Bakery, and J.C Penney. Her family will always remember her as the only one who always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays with a special card and blessings, at least one week before the event. She taught her children and grandchildren fairness, honesty, moral responsibility, and the necessity to serve others less fortunate. Nana will be missed by many.

Mary is survived by three children and their families: Donald and wife Josephine Romero, Granddaughter Dawn Jill, great-granddaughter Aly; Granddaughter Kris Martinez and husband Joe, great grandchildren Megan and Ethan; Granddaughter Samantha Moore and husband Jason, great grandson, Jay Julian; Pancho and Debbie Romero, Loretta Romero, Granddaughter Vanessa Romero and husband Nicholas, grandchildren Aidan and Liam; Granddaughter Jessica Padilla and husband Chris, grandchildren Ashlan and Drex; step great-grandchildren Nevaeh, and Angel, Monica, and Melina. Mary is also survived by sister-in-law Eva Sanchez, Leola Romero, brother-law-Clarence Mora, and several nephews and nieces.

Cremation has taken place and Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 9:00am Funeral mass will follow both services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM 87701 with Father Rob Yaksich as celebrant.

Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery January 30, 2025 at 2:30pm.
