"Mr. T" Tenorio

Michael F. "Mr.T" Tenorio 63, was called to heaven on March 14, 2025. Michael was born on April 8, 1961, to Mike S Tenorio and Oclides Tenorio. He attended Taos High School and graduated in 1980. He was a member of the National Guard out of Taos New Mexico, joining when he was just 17. He would later continue his education getting his degree in Environmental science and later a master's degree in educational leadership, at New Mexico Highlands University. In his early years of his education, he attended NMHU on a band scholarship, where he would meet his future wife, Marlene Saiz who was also in band. Michael and Marlene would eventually get married on July 16, 1988, in Puerto De Luna New Mexico. Michael was a devoted father, uncle, grandfather and educator. Michael spent over half his life in education, teaching science at the middle school level at the Valley and at West Las Vegas Middle School and was currently teaching at Rio Gallians Charter School here in Las Vegas. Michael was also involved in coordinating several local and regional science fairs, he was involved with programs such as M.E.S.A. and Upward Bound, and taught summer schools and summer programs for many years. Along with teaching he was also an athletic director at the valley and coached basketball, football and track, Michael was also an assistant coach for the West Las Vegas Dons for a number of years. Michael was also a core member of the Life Teen youth group for a number of years Michael taught various religious education classes including confirmation at Immaculate Conception. Michael was an ACTS brother a Eucharistic Minister and devoted parishioner at Immaculate Conception.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Mike and Ocildes Tenorio, his wife Marlene Saiz Tenorio, his daughter Estrella Tenorio and his daily companion Khalifa the toy Chihuahua.
Michael is survived by his sons Estevan Tenorio of Albuquerque NM and Enrico Tenorio (Katie) of Santa Rosa NM, Grandchildren Enrico Santos, Remi Alica and Octavia Jade, sisters Regina Gorum and Edwina Tenorio both of Albuquerque and brother Andrew Tenorio of Arroyo Seco, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many friends and students.
Rosary service will be recited on Tuesday, March 25 2025 at 7p.m. Funeral mass will be conducted on Wednesday, March 26 2025 at 11:00am with father Dennis Garcia, both at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas NM.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as Pallbearers, Sebastian Flores, Francisco Gallegos, Andelecio Gallegos, Anastacio Gallegos, Juan Silva, Juan Murguia, Tito Murguia, Craig Gorum, and Josh Barela. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Tenorio, Carl Swaggart, Enrico Santos Tenorio, Remi Alica Tenorio and Octavia Jade Tenorio.
