Nicolas Ruiz Sr. (Nick) – June 11, 1944-February 2, 2023.

Nick is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Angelina Ruiz and several siblings. He was born in Dixon, raised in Chacon and settled in Santa Fe.

He is survived by his children: Nancy Alire (husband Brian); Nickolas Paul Ruiz, Jr. (wife Judy) and Candace Ruiz (partner Jim Clark); grand-daughters Nicole Rodriguez and Clara Alire. He is also survived by his longtime companion Marylou Tafoya and her family; siblings: Esther Morris, Mary Herrera, Angelina Martinez, Frank Ruiz and Raymond Ruiz, Robert Ruiz their families and many nieces and nephews.

His life was spent working his businesses, Ruiz Paving and Excavating where he met many friends and colleagues along the way. He was most proud of his archaeological excavation for the State of New Mexico where he performed many historical digs.  He lived his life to love his children, family and friends. His most important legacy is that he loved people – everyone. He wanted to be remembered by his love of Jesus Christ and lived his life demonstrating that love. His smile and generosity he shared with all those he encountered will be in our hearts forever. He is greatly missed.

Services to be held on Monday, February  13, 2023, with Pastor Herman Medina.  Viewing at 10 am, Funeral at 11 am at Mora Valley Baptist Church in Cleveland, NM.  Burial will follow at the Chacon Presbyterian Cemetery followed by reception at Tilford Memorial.
