December 14, 1945 – January 4, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of Nora Lupita Gallegos, age 80 of Guadalupita, NM, announces that she passed away from cancer in the early hours on January 4, 2026 in the comfort of her home. She was born to Erinello Arguello and Angelina Martinez Arguello on December 14, 1945 in Chacon, New Mexico. She married Jimmy (Santiago) Gallegos on July 31, 1967, in Mora, New Mexico. In their early years of the marriage they lived El Turquillo, NM before moving to Albuquerque, NM, Portales New Mexico and finally moving back in 1980, to El Turquillo to make their permanent home. Together they had seven children, two sons, James Gallegos (Geraldine), Erineo Gallegos (Diane) and five daughters Brenda Thomas of Wyoming, Ernestine (Max) Pacheco of Chacon, NM; Lola Gallegos of El Turquillo, NM; Darlene Gallegos (Joe Espinoza) Rainesville, NM; Betsy (Steve) Chavez of Portales, NM. She was blessed with 19 grandchildren and with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband, five daughters, one sister Lorraine (Ernest) Garcia, of Roswell, NM and a brother, Leo Arguello of Portales, NM.
She preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mary Eutila (Edward) Gonzalez, Marcella (Mike) Marquis, two sons, James and Erineo Gallegos, grandson, Jonathan Gallegos.
During her life she was employed in various areas, but she retired from Angel Fire Resort and continued to work in Mora at Kristy's Café in Cleveland, NM and Mora Senior Center, before completely retiring and caring for beloved husband.
Some of her greatest joys were spending time with family, she loved baking and sharing her baked goods with family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting with activities such as sewing, crocheting, and embroidery. She will be missed for her generosity towards everyone as there was no stranger that she did not become friends with.
Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. on January 16, 2026at Rogers Mortuary Chapel Pastor Herman Medina will officiate the service. Burial will be announced at a later date.
