Nora Maes passed away suddenly on December 2, 2025, was born in Las Vegas NM on October 16, 1937 to Lourdes Baca and Roman Tafoya. Nora has been reunited with her beloved husband Daniel B. Maes Sr. Whom she was married to for 59 Years before his passing.
Nora was full of life and love; was very strong and independent until her final days; she loved her family and enjoyed all her grandkids; she enjoyed cooking and baking; As well as coffee runs to Starbucks with all the grandkids. She worked at the State Hospital for 26 Years and had her own boarding home. She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel B. Maes Sr., Parents Lourdes Baca and Roman Tafoya, Sisters Andy Salazar, Rita Gurule, Brothers Ernest Tafoya, Raymond Tafoya and Lawrence Tafoya. Children Marvin Maes and Pearl Maes-Ulibarri.
Nora is survived by her son Daniel Jr. (Donna) Maes, Brother Roger (Cathy) Tafoya, Grandchildren David (Marissa) Maes, Jade (Curtis) Lucero, Charles (Jolene) Maes, Matthew (Eva) Maes, Olivia (Toby) Sanchez, Lynette Archuleta, , Desiree Maes, Deonna Maes. Great Grandchildren Amor Maes, Amerae Maes, Azelynn Maes, Antonio Maes, Mackenzie Lucero, Mia Lucero, Diego Maes, Jeremiah Maes, Selah Maes, Mia Maes, Maddie Sanchez, Heaven Rose Archuleta and Cezar Maes. Sister in Law's Nora Madrid and Lillian Baca. Brother in Law Eloy Maes. Nora also had many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
Rosary Services will be held on December 18th 2025 at 7:00pm and Mass on December 19th 2025 at 9:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church Las Vegas, NM. Serving as Urn bearers will be Amor Maes and Mackenzie Lucero. Funeral Travel to follow to Santa Fe National Cemetery, line up will be December 19th 2025 at 12:30pm at Rogers Mortuary.
