Obituary

Patrick "Danny" Tapia born on August 2, 1950 passed away at the age of 72 on January 20, 2023 at his home in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Born in Las Vegas New Mexico, he was the son of Pat and Ruby Tapia. He was a graduate from Robertson High school, a Vietnam Veteran and retired from Qwest communications after 35 years of service.

He served honorably during the Vietnam War and served with the 101 Airborne Division, achieving the rank of Sergeant. For his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Combat infantry badge for ground combat and expert rifle. Danny was a life member of the San Juan-Argonne Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1547. He served February 18, 1970 to October 26, 1971.Danny was known to his family and friends as intelligent, genuine, kind and distinguished. He was well-respected and many referred to him as "buena gente".

He was a man of his word. He enjoyed live music, bicycle riding, hunting and spending time at the family property to which he referred as a "mystical place". It was important for him to teach his children and grandchildren about their history, roots and where they come from. He was inspired by New Mexican landscape and culture and developed a deep appreciation for the people, culinary experiences and art.Danny is preceded in death by wife Stella E. Tapia, son Patricio Tapia, parents Pat and Ruby Tapia and brother Mario Tapia.

He is survived by his daughters Vinia Ebell husband Zac, Felicia Tapia-Alvidrez, husband Timo, ChristinaTapia and daughter in-law Jenna Tapia. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kassandra Tapia, J.D Marquez, Andres and Emily Alvidrez. His brothers and sisters Jessie, Dennis and Laura, Priscilla and Ernest, Corinna and Raymond, Cynthia, Charlie and Marian, Margaret, Christina and Luis, Eric and Nancy. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his children, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 7pm. Funeral mass will be on Thursday February 2, 2023 at 9am. Both services will be at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment following at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM at 2:30pm. Urn bearers will be Jessie Tapia, Alfonso Martinez and Leopoldo L. Armijo.
