Paul Martin Torres of Guadalupita NM, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on January 7, 2024. He was born on September 2, 1936 to Marcelino and Adelia Torres.
Paul was one of 9 children that grew up in Guadalupita, NM. There he helped his father with sheep herding, farming then cattle ranching. He attended and graduated from Mora High School. Paul joined the Navy in 1957 and traveled to many countries during his deployment. He moved to Denver after being discharged where he met then married Bertha Lopez Rodriguez. In Denver he graduated from barber school and opened his own barber shop. Paul retired after 40 years of barbering and returned home to Guadalupita in 1999. There he tended to his cattle, pastures, and family.
Paul is preceded by his father Marcelino Torres, mother Adelia Torres, siblings Poliocarpio Torres(Lorencita Torres), Cesarita Romero(Manuel Romero), Helen Romero(James Romero), Bertha Vialpando(Ramon Vialpando), Lorraine Reichert(Larry Reichert), Pablita Romero(Ralph Romero), Teresita Pacheco(Mike Pacheco), and son Fabian Torres.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are his wife Bertha Torres, brother Ernesto Torres (Marcela Torres), brother-in-law Francisco Lopez, son Alberto Torres, daughter Maribel Lemus, grandchildren Veronica Lemus, Vanessa Lemus, Victoria Lemus, Viviana Lemus, Nicholas Romero and Juaquin Torres, great grandchildren Lylith Vicenti, Dominique Romero, Daniel Fiallo, Aiden Fiallo, Logen Lemus-Gomez and as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom he loved dearly.
Rosary services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Guadalupita, NM on Friday, January 19th at 6:00pm. Mass will be at Saint Gertrude the Great Catholic Church with Fr Paul Grala SOLT as celebrant in Mora, NM on Saturday, January 20th at 10:00am followed by burial at the Torres Cemetery in Guadalupita, NM. A life celebration gathering will take place after burial at Saint Gertrude's parish in Mora, NM.
