Paul Douglas
Ware
March 1, 1951 – July 2, 2024
Paul Douglas Ware, age 73, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.
Paul was born on March 23, 1951 in Plainview, Texas to William and Maxine Ware. He graduated from Robertson High School in 1969 and began studying at NM Highlands University. Paul held many jobs in his life. Among his favorites were working as summer ranch hand at the Atchley ranch outside Clayton, NM, truck driving for Shared Imaging, working for over 40 years in radio broadcasting at KFUN, KOB in Albuquerque, and KNMX in Las Vegas, and announcing at the Pit for Lobo basketball games. He worked part-time at KNMX until his poor health prevented it.
During his school years, Paul was a member of the Robertson football and track teams. He was a lifetime Cardinal fan and attended their football games whenever possible or cheered them on (loudly at times) while listening to the radio broadcast of games.
Paul was a long-time member of Rociada Baptist Church and loved his church family and their potluck lunches. Various members of the church visited Paul regularly and brought him food from the beloved potlucks when he was no longer able to attend in person. His close high school friends Tom McGahan, Curtis Plagge, and Don Procter helped him through his long health struggle.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents William Ware and Maxine Ware and is survived by his sisters Margaret CdeBaca and husband Don, Kathy Franken and husband Alan, niece Jackie Franken, nephew Daniel Franken, niece Julie Franken and husband Yafet Cintron, grandniece Mila Cintron Franken, and by caregiver and close family friend Cecilia Sotelo.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church, Las Vegas on Friday, July 19th at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rociada Baptist Church or the NM Animal Humane Society.
Arrangements are entrusted to and under the care of Rogers Mortuary 600 Reynolds Ave Las Vegas, NM 87701 505-425-3511 or 1-800-479-3511.
