Phillip Richard
Bustos
September 8, 1978 – June 12, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Phillip Richard Bustos, a beloved husband, devoted father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, and respected business owner. Phillip went to rest with our Lord on June 12, 2025, in Taos, New Mexico, at the age of 46, surrounded by his loving family.
He was welcomed into eternal rest by his baby brother Gilbert; paternal grandparents Gabriel and Josephine Bustos; maternal grandparents Gilbert and Lorraine Medina; uncles Marcos Medina, and Manuel Bustos; aunts, Angela Romero, Patsy Gonzales, and Rita Marquez, along with other dear family members who went before him.
Phillip is survived by devoted wife, Jennifer Bustos; son, Enrique "Rico"; daughters, Dennika (Roddy), Aailiyah, and stepdaughter, Jazalle; his loving parents Richard and Marsha Bustos; brother, Rick (Chelsea); grandchildren, Colten and Sienna; In-Laws, Andrew and Irene Espinoza; sister-in-law, Josephine; brothers-in-law, Anthony (Rose), and Mauricio; nephews, nieces and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends. Phillip's family was the heart of his world, and his legacy of strength, care, and commitment will continue to live on through them.
Born, September 8, 1978, in Las Vegas and raised in Cañoncito, New Mexico, Phillip built his life and career in Angel Fire, New Mexico, with hard work, integrity, and deep love for his family. Twenty plus years, he founded Canyon City Landscaping and later Summit Home Care, growing both into thriving successful businesses. His entrepreneurial spirit, dedication, and hands-on leadership earned him deep respect from clients, co-workers, and the community.
Phillip was a man who embraced life fully. He loved the mountains and nature, spending time outdoors and riding UTVs through rugged landscapes. His passion for heavy equipment was a natural extension of his work and personality. He also had a softer side, he enjoyed fine dining, cherished music, and would often be found dancing with his wife, savoring every joyful moment life had to offer.
He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for his steady presence, wisdom, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for those closest to him.
Services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, New Mexico. The Rosary will begin at 9:00 am followed by the Funeral Mass. Burial will take place after the services in Guadalupita, New Mexico, with the following serving as Pallbearers; Joe Casados, Arturo Perez, Johnny Martinez, Rico Bustos, William Olivas, Mario Maestas, and Raul Montoya.
Arrangements are entrusted to and under the care of Rogers Mortuary, 600 Reynolds Ave., Las Vegas, NM 87701, 505-425-3511 or 1-800-479-3511.
