Procopio Juan Gonzales Jr., known affectionately as John, passed away on June 21st, 2024, in his hometown of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Born on December 20th, 1945, in Las Vegas, he was the son of the late Procopio Gonzales Sr. and Nash Gonzales. John was a cherished member of the Las Vegas community, where he lived most of his life.

John graduated from Robertson High School and furthered his education by going to Barber School. He proudly served in the United States Army for 8 years and dedicated his life to becoming a carpenter and creating a lasting and respectable business in contracting.

In 1970, John married his beloved wife, Della Gonzales, and together, they raised three children: Martin Gonzales, Franchesca Hentsch, and Jeremias Gonzales. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and the eldest of his 13 siblings. His family was the cornerstone of his life.

John was preceded by his parents and his 4 brothers. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his children, his fourteen grandchildren: Mario, Jaclyn, Adella, Chalamar, Amanda, Ashana, Kaleiah, Ahrizzia, Ariel, Asjann, Alexis, Makayla, Brendon, and Xavier, and 11 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

John was an avid collector of all things from the 60s and 70s. He loved to create custom hot rods, restore old cars, and ride motorcycles. He enjoyed creating custom car memorabilia such as couches, tables, and more. John was a creative soul, and it was shown through everything he did.

A service to honor John's life will be held on July 2nd, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrow church, located at 403 Valencia St. Las Vegas, New Mexico. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Procopio Juan Gonzales Jr. will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His stories, wisdom, and the warmth of his company will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
