Rafaelita Lucero was born in Palma, New Mexico on June 27, 1935 to Tranqueleno and Ramonsita Trujillo. She died at the age of 90 in San Diego, California on November 11, 2025 after a long illness.

Raffie was married to Joe Lucero in New Mexico at age 20. Her husband Joe joined the Air Force and they moved to Riverside, California where Joe was stationed at March Air Force Base. Ed and Dina were born in Riverside. When Joe was honorably discharged they moved to San Diego, California. In San Diego Loretta and Robert were born. Raffie got her cosmetology license and had a few clients she saw working in Joe's hair salon. She and Joe socialized a lot, and they loved to go square dancing. Her husband Joe died in an accident in 1999. She was very devoted to her family. She did volunteer work at the hospital gift shop. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters at the local church. She loved going on cruises with her friends, playing bingo at the church, and playing the slots at the casino.

Raffie is survived by her children Ed & Kate Lucero, Dina & Troy MacRae, Loretta Bivens & Bobby Alexio, Rob Lucero & Mary Byrne. Grandchildren: Natalie & Kenny Liles, Stan & Ashley Phillips, Kim & Aaron Smith, Patrick Lucero & Andy Johns, Laura Lucero & Shawn Kreitz, Austin & Olivia Bivens, Matthew MacRae & Kyle Van Arsdale, Marissa MacRae & Allegra Hutton, Sarah & Paul Montalto, Apryl MacRae, Christine MacRae & Mike Puck.

Great grandchildren: Isabel Liles, Charlotte Liles, Jensen Phillips, Riley Phillips. Her sisters Mary Lou Velasquez, Chonita Griego.

The funeral will be in Ribera, New Mexico at the San Miguel del Vado Church on December 10, 2025. Rosary will be at 9:30am, with the mass to follow.
