It is with great sadness that the family of Rita Bella Marquez announce her passing. She left to her heavenly home with her husband Alex and son Vincent by her side on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Rita was born April 24, 1950 to Josephine and Gabriel Bustos in Mora, NM. As a young child, she suffered from polio, but it didn't affect her from living everyday life with her brothers and sisters, and attending public school and graduating from Mora High School in 1968 she attended Luna vocational community college and later met the love of her life Alex Marquez they were married in 1969 and had three children, Alex Jr. (Carissa), Vincent. Gabriella . Rita and Alex attended as many dances as they could. She was a devoted daughter. She was a devoted Catholic. She was a devoted mother, she prayed the Rosary Daily . She worked for the state of New Mexico for 25 years. Soon after she retired she became a grandmother her second joy in life was being a grandma to her grandchildren. Then in 2014 she got diagnosed with cancer. Her battle continued for over a decade she was quite the fighter …

She is preceded in death by father Gabriel Bustos; mother, Josephine Bustos; brothers Andrew and Manuel Bustos; sister, Patricia Gonzales; nephews, Chon and Carlos Martinez, Gilbert Chon Bustos; special aunt, Jennie Martinez; brothers-in-law, Larry Vigil, Jose Maestas, and Anthony Gonzales.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Alex; sons, Alex Jr. (Carissa), and Vincent; daughter, Gabriella; grandchildren, Dylan (Bonnie), Kyle, Haley, Larry, Vince Jr., Johnny, Troy; great- grandchildren, Gavin, Oliver, and Ilan. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters; Gabriel (Bertha) Bustos, Richard (Marsha) Bustos, Barbara Bustos, Theresa Bustos,  Georgetta Maestas, Lorriane (Joe) Alamanzar and Susie Martinez. Special niece; Jordy Bustos; nephews and nieces, Greg Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales, Phillip Bustos, Rick Bustos, Zack Rodarte, Mario Maestas, Marcos Maestas, Felicia Maestas, Monique Maestas, Joseph Alamanzar and Valerie Alamanzar, Robbie Bustos and Gabriel Bustos,  and all their families .

Services will be as follows:

Rosary at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 7:00 pm.

Rosary at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 1:00pm followed by Mass of Christian burial. Interment to follow at La Cueva Cemetery in La Cueva, NM with following serving as Pallbearers;  Dylan Marquez, Kyle Marquez, Rick Bustos, Vince Marquez, Jr., Larry Mendez, and Phillip Bustos.
