Robert Michael Lujan, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico and former resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico passed away on March 12, 2023 at the age of 39.
Robert is survived by his children Nikki-Rae and Robert Michael Lujan Jr., his father Ismael Lujan, sisters Andrea Lujan, Krissy Salazar and husband Carlos. Nephews Jacob Salazar, Ryan Rivera, Isaac Salazar, and niece Ciana Medina. Including numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is preceded in death by this mother Virginia Lujan, maternal grandparents Roberto and Pulita Vigil, paternal grandparents Ismael Sr. and Magdalena Lujan, and cousin Francesca Lujan.
Robbie, as he was affectionately known as, was born in Las Vegas, NM on May 26, 1983 to Ismael and Virginia Lujan. Robbie graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 2001. He received an Associates of Arts Degree at Shasta College in Redding, California and a Bachelors of Arts degree at New Mexico Highlands University where he played collegiate basketball at both institutions.
Robbie was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and cousin. He always promoted family cohesiveness and unity. He was an avid sports enthusiast and Michigan Wolverines fan. Robbie traveled frequently to Ann Arbor, Michigan with family to support the Michigan Wolverines. He loved spending time with his children and often planned vacations that included extended family and friends. Among his favorite things to do were to go fishing and spend time in the mountains.
Robbie was a standout athlete for West Last Vegas High School. Where he earned the distinction as an outstanding athlete in the sport of basketball. During his athletic career he earned the District 2AAA Scholar Athlete Award, Stu Clark All-Tournament Team in 2000, 2001 2AAA All District Basketball Team, 2001 North/South Basketball Team.
Early in his career Robbie was employed with a troubled youth program where he was known to achieved positive results with parents and children. He also worked with United Postal Service for 4 years. His most recent job was with the University of New Mexico Children's Psychiatric Center.
Robbie will be remembered for his heart of gold, undying love for his family, and his infectious smile that made you feel loved and cared for. Robbie will also be remembered for his kind and generous personality, as he would always be willing to give to others.
Rosary Services will Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father Agustin Henderson as celebrant. Services will be lived streamed via: olosasvegas.org
Cremation will be held after services, and burial will be on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:00am held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Salazar, Isaac Salazar, Ryan Rivera, Alan Trujillo, Joshua Romero, Michael Martinez, Abraham Garcia, and Ramon Gonzales.
