Rosa Martinez, 91, of Cleveland, N.M. slipped the bonds of Alzheimer's and peacefully reached the end of her earthly journey on January 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

The epitome of sweetness, Grandma Rose enjoyed sewing, baking, visiting with relatives and friends, and loving her grandchildren and great grandbabies. For her family, she was a source of love, strength, and comfort. Throughout her life, she faced every challenge, every triumph, and every sorrow with quiet resolve, enduring grace, and abiding faith in Jesus and Our Blessed Mother. There are no words to express how very much she was loved or how much she will be missed.

Rosa was born in Chacon on March 28, 1931 to the late Jose Rafael Gonzales and Antonia Romero.

She was also preceded in death by her stepfather Florentino Vasquez; brothers Laurencio Gonzales, Guillermo Gonzales, Florencio Gonzales, Henry Vasquez, Leroy Vasquez, Antonio Vasquez; sisters Laura Madrid, Arcelia Jewell, Jesusita Sanchez, and Flora Hurtado. Also preceding Rosa in death were her first husband Antonio Romero and her second husband Jose Nerio Martinez; daughters Tonie Trujillo and Josephine Martinez; son-in-law Ben Bustos; and grandson Isaiah Salazar. We pray for and envision a most beautiful and joyful reunion in heaven.

Rosa is survived by sisters Dolores Garcia, Viola Ruiz, Seralia Maestas, and Barbara Dominguez; brothers Jose Vasquez (Esther) and Florentino Vasquez (Alice); and sister-in-law Angie Gonzales.

Rosa is also survived by her doting daughters Marcelina Bustos of Cleveland; Mary Helen Casados (Frank) of Pecos; Angela Salazar (Marc) of Albuquerque; Julie Martinez of El Aguila, who was also her primary caretaker in the twilight of her life; son-in-law Fidel Trujillo of LeDoux; and daughter-in-law Jennifer Griego of Albuquerque. Rosa is also survived by ten grandchildren whom she helped raise, fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.

A lifelong Catholic, Rosa was a member of St. Gertrude's Parish in Mora, N.M. Rosary will be recited by Los Hermanos de Nuestro Padre Jesús on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 7:00pm at St. Gertrude's Church. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10:00 am St. Gertrude's with Father Dale Craig S.O.L.T. as celebrant.

Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at the San Antonio Catholic Cemetery in Cleveland with the following serving as pallbearers: Rick Bustos, Ben Bustos, Jason Trujillo, Thomas Martinez, Charlie Martinez, and Jacqueline Trambley.

The rest of Grandma Rose's grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
