Roy J. Gallegos a lifelong resident of Villanueva, NM passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family December 17th, 2023. Born April 26, 1942 in Villanueva, NM to Pedro V, Gallegos and Josefina Madrid Gallegos. He attended Alma Mater Catholic School in Villanueva, NM. Married the love of his life, Rosabel Garcia Gallegos on October 18th, 1963 at San Miguel Del Vado church. He was a lifetime farmer and rancher who loved his horses and cattle, ditch forman for 20 plus years, he also served as San Miguel County Commissioner for 2 consecutive terms.

He is survived by his wife: Rosabel Gallegos, Daughter, Mariam "Julie" Gonzales (Fermin), their children: Heather Renee Gonzalez (Roman) and their daughter, Mia Faith Sena, the light of Roy's life. Fermin Roy Gonzales (Angelica) Son: Mike Gallegos and his sons, Adrian, Brandon, and Dylan Roy Gallegos (Joselyn). Siblings: Eutimio Gallegos (Lorella), Catherine Aguilar (Pete), Andy Gallegos (Delfinia). Surviving in-laws: Joe T. Garcia (Georgia), Beatrice Moya, Perscilla O. Mathis (Ray), Daniel Garcia Jr, Dalia Maestas (Jose), Martin Garcia (Patricia).

He is preceded in death by his parents: Pedro and Josefina Gallegos. Brothers: Juan Gallegos (Caroline). Pete Gallegos Jr, sister, Leora Gallegos (Don). In-laws, Daniel and Julianita Garcia, Sister-in-laws, Elsie Sena (Joe), Rufina Ulibarri (Filimon), Sinforosa Garcia. Brother-in-laws, Arthur Garcia and Larry Moya. Nephews: Charles Gallegos, Arthur Garcia II, and Geno Mathis.

Pallbearers will be Adrian, Brandon, and Dylan Gallegos. Fermin Gonzales, Pete Gallegos, Bryan Gallegos, Edward Lovato, Lorenzo Gallegos, and Martin Garcia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Heather Gonzalez and Mia Sena

Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Villanueva, NM. Friday, December 22, 2023. Viewing will be from 12:30-1pm, rosary and funeral mass to follow.

Cremation will follow mass and burial of cremains will be held at a later date.
