We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Rudy Benny Archuleta, 50 of Las Vegas, N.M. Rudy was a beloved father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He passed away July 30, 2023, in Las Vegas, N.M.
Rudy was born on November 6, 1972, to Rita Sims and the late Benny Archuleta.
He is survived by his children, Alicianna and Michael Archuleta, his girlfriend/mother of his children Crystal Mora; Parents, Rita and Larry Sims; Sister Amanda Sims and nephew Erik Edwards; Sister Tasha Archuleta & family; Stepmother Rose DeHerrera, Step Sisters Yvonne and Christine Encinias; Stepchildren Steven, Bianca & Ramon Martinez and their families; in laws Alvin & Theresa Mora & families. His maternal family: Grandmother Alice Torres; Aunts/Uncles Gloria Encinias (Dan), Grace Vigil (Fred), Gilbert Torres (Chong), Lydia Sanchez, Rosalie Martinez (Greg). His Paternal family: Aunt/Godmother Fabby Archuleta; Uncle/Godfather Manuel Archuleta (Sinfer) Cousins Kathy Archuleta & family, Victoria "Lala''Archuleta, Ricky Archuleta, Archie Archuleta, Audrene Dominquez, Kevin Dominquez & family. Adam Villalva (Antionette), Debbie, Adam & Family. He is also survived by numerous relatives and many friends.
Rudy is preceded in death by his father Benny Archuleta; Stepbrother Corey Sims, Maternal grandfather Carlos Torres; Paternal grandmother Tillie Archuleta; Maternal great grandparents Don Pedro & Juanita Maes; Uncles Ernest "Tudy" Archuleta; Cousins Jeffrey Scott, Freddie Vigil, Gabriel Delgado, Christina Archuleta, and Joseph & Antonette Gonzales.
Rudy was a wild spirit. He lived his life as he wanted. He was a good provider for his family and he loved his children deeply. He had a kind heart always helping others before his own needs; He was a Charger fan win or lose! He got the charger emblem tattooed on his shoulder. Funny thing is he hated needles but he had many tattoos.
Rudy was a volunteer firefighter for the NM forestry District IV in the early 90s. He had various trades through his employment over the years in healthcare and food services. He enjoyed skateboarding, cruising, listening to music and most of all being a dad.
Rudy was born in Las Vegas, NM. He attended Legion Park Elementary School until 1982 when he & his mother moved to Camp Pendleton CA. He was a 1991 graduate of Carlsbad High School in California. Rudy returned to New Mexico in 1993 and resided here until his death.
Funeral services are scheduled as followed: The rosary will be held for Monday August 7, 2023 at 7pm. Mass will be Tuesday August 8, 2023 at 9am with Father Dennis Garcia as Celebrant. Both the rosary and mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM and honoring Rudy as Pallbearers will be Bianca & Trini Sanchez, Carlos Martinez, Secundino Martinez, Daryll, Delio, Gabriel & Dylan Encinias. Honorary pallbearers Estrella Martinez, Erik Edwards, Daniel Encinias, Mark & Dennis Vigil, Pedro & Janet Torres, Alysha Martinez, Mickey & Mateo Garcia, and Jerry Madrid. Eulogy will be read by Kaidyn & Carlos Martinez.
