Ruth R. Trujillo, a resident of Chacon, N.M. passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 29, 2026.

Ruth was born in Las Aguitas, Mora County NM on July 4, 1940. And was the daughter of Abelino Trujillo and Cleotilde Quintana Trujillo.

Ruth was a woman of deep faith, and a devoted member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora County.

Ruth was known for her gentle and joyful spirit, unwavering strength and unconditional love for her family and friends.

She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and her pets which she loved unconditionally. Ruth enjoyed reading the bible, cooking and being outdoors with her beloved pets; her dog named Terrah and her beautiful white cat named Blanco.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Abelino Trujillo and Cleotilde Quintana Trujillo; son Joseph Vigil and grandchildren Gabriel Vigil and Vidal Vigil; special son in law Francisco Hurtado; very close friend to the family Robert Pacheco; brother Jose M. Trujillo; and sisters Alice Marrujo, Rosa D. Chavez and Louisa Shifflett.

Ruth is survived by her younger brother Leroy Trujillo (Virginia) and her children Manuel Vigil jr. (Brenda), John Vigil (Amada), Gerardine Vigil Bartels (Joel), Anthony Vigil. Special cousin Gilbert Quintana and wife Nancy. Special friend Mark Rogers with whom she loved to visit and chat. Ruth is also survived by her cherished and loved grandchildren; Jamie Vigil (Joseph), Kristy Vigil (Felix), Celina Vigil, Manuel Eligio Vigil (Gabriella), Melinda Vigil, Alejandro Vigil, Vicente Vigil and Brianna Vigil. And sixteen great-grandchildren, one great -great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many special friends.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Ruth's faith carried her home to the Lord. Her gentle smile, generous Heart, enduring love and joyful spirit will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Ruth left behind a legacy of kindness, faith and compassion that will live in our hearts forever.

Rosary will be recited on Sunday, July 19th,2026 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, New Mexico. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 20th,2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, with burial following at El Carmen Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers Moses Montoya, Manuel E. Vigil, Louis Trujillo, Felix Calderon, Flavio Lovato and Anthony Lee Vigil.

The Vigil/ Trujillo family extends their sincere gratitude to all who offered their prayers, love and support during this difficult time. And many thanks to the Meadow staff at NMBHI.
