Obituary

Scott C Haley, age 82, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in Santa Fe, New Mexico while on hospice at the CHRISTUS Saint Vincent Regional Medical Center.

Scott was a lifelong Naturalist. For the last fifty years of his life, he was involved in various aspects of ecology and environmental science in both work-related and/or off-work activities. He received his B.S. degree in 1966 at Colorado State University with a double major in Animal Science (in Agriculture) and a teaching major in Biology. He earned his M.A degree in 1973 from Arizona State University majoring in Geography, with a focus on human impact on the environment.

During his life me, Scott taught Biology and Ecology at High School and Community College levels. He was an ecological consultant and Environmental Impact Statements author and performed field work involving various Plans and Reports, such as manufacturing facility Pollution Prevention Plans, Environmental Site Assessments, and drainage basin Water Pollution Control and Abatement Plans.

Scott also constructed and taught an Environmental Technician Training Program for a vocational college, was a Partner in the consulting firm, Puget Sound Environmental, Inc., owner of Scott Haley Regulatory Compliance and a HazMat Specialist with Sacramento County Environmental Management Department.

Scott was a member of various associations including Society for Conservation Biology; International Society for Ecological Economics; American Association of Geographers and International Society for Environmental Ethics.

Because of a deep concern for his grandchildren and all younger generations, for the last fifteen years of his life, most of Scott's time was devoted to addressing the socio-eco-econ-ethical crisis we're all facing via education and quiet, peaceful, ethical activism.

At the time of his death, Scott was working on a concept for a fourth book. Thousands of people regularly read his blog and knew one of his most favorite expressions. It was how he wished others a safe and enjoyable journey. His surviving brother, sister, brother-in-law, son, daughter in-law and two grandchildren wish for Scott "Happy Trails".

Arrangements are entrusted to and under the care of Rogers Mortuary, 600 Reynolds Ave., Las Vegas, NM 87701, 505-425-3511 or 1-800-479-3511.
